Backlink Analysis

When checked, Backlink Analysis attains up to 105 backlinks for each Top Site and Custom URL and includes calculations for:

  • External Link Reputation
  • External Link Kurtosis
  • Calculated PageRank based on:

    External link only:

If Top Page is a domain name URL

External and Internal links:

If Top Page is an interior page –or- a 301 redirect of a domain name URL

Backlink Source

Two sources of Backlinks are available: MSN or Yahoo.  Alltheweb serves as a proxy for Yahoo.

Filters

The sample set of backlinks may be processed through several filters. 

Each filter reports 3 metrics:

  1. Prorated backlink count
  2. Calculated PageRank
  3. Kurtosis of individual PageRank values in the filtered sample set

Note that backlink count and calculated PageRank are prorated based on the link universe for the top page (Top Page Link Pages  /sample set value = prorated ratio).  Also, filter criteria are considered logical AND conditions; all must exist to pass the filter.  Body and Head fields are considered as a group; a logical OR condition exists within the group.

Users may save customized Filters and apply them on current and future SE ANALYST jobs.

Filter Criteria

Minimum PageRank

Filters by minimum public PageRank value.  Range: 1-9 in increments of one.

Unique IP

Filters by IP.  Choices are:

·   NONE (accepts all IPs)

·   IP

·   Class C IP

Max links on page

Filters by maximum number of external links on a backlink page.  Internal links are not counted.

Keyword Found

Filters by found keyword.  Choices are:

  ·   NONE

  ·   Phrase (all terms in exact order with only spaces in between each term)

  ·   Broad (all terms in exact order within Broad Match Width of the end of the first term)

  ·   Part (any occurrence of a term of keyword is counted as a partial match)

 

Matches for Phrase, Broad and Part are handled differently.  Anchortext on backlink pages will be counted according to the following rules.

Phrase Match:

 One count for one or many phrase matches found.

Broad Match:

 One count for one or many Broad Matches found ONLY when there are no Phrase Matches within the backlink anchortext.

Part Match:

 One count for one or many Part Matches found ONLY when there are no Phrase or Part Maches within the backlink anchortext.  If there is a Phrase or Broad match within the backlink anchortext, Part Matches will not be recorded.

Body (x-anchor)

Location of keyword found on a backlink page.  Body and Head condition are a group and considered as logical OR conditions.  If both Body and Head are checked, the keyword match may be found in either location.  Anchor is considered as a logical AND condition.

Other

Location of keyword found on a backlink page.  These options are the same as found in the KDA section.  A saved KDA profile may be applied, or a new profile created.  The profile applies to all filters.
